Why Choose a Private Rehab Facility?

When looking for a room in an accredited centre, the first thing to ask is “how quickly can you take me”. With private care, the answer is immediately (sometimes even the same day). Compared to government (or OHIP) paid facilities, the waitlist to get into treatment can range from weeks to months. Beds available through government agencies are limited.

Part of the expense of private centres is the ability to get quality care immediately when you need it without the potential of extended suffering while waiting for a government bed to become available. In addition to getting immediate access to a bed, an accredited rehabilitation centre also has all of the medical and support personnel under one roof – from the medical detoxification staff to the therapists, including the counsellors that support both clients and their families. This means that the addiction and any co-existing mental health illnesses are treated together to help ensure lasting sobriety.

Treatment at a private centre also differs from a government facility in terms of your actual stay and treatment. The Canadian Centre for Addictions provides a luxury setting in a Victorian mansion that includes

  • safe detox
  • 24/7 medical supervision
  • private or semi-private rooms
  • individual and group counseling
  • spa-like facilities that include a full gym, outdoor pool, and sauna
  • fine dining

We also offer lifetime aftercare that is accessible throughout North America.

How Can I Afford Private Rehab?

The first step is to check to see if your insurance coverage/benefits through work include support. Some policies will cover it completely or at least partially. If you have an employee portal or wellness plan, inquiring about coverage should be discreet and confidential.

Some clients look to their current assets as collateral for loans (such as refinancing their mortgage) and some have family or friends who can help.

We understand that not everyone is in either of these two categories. There are financing options available. The Canadian Centre for Addictions works with Medicard to help clients get financing. Medicard pays for treatment upfront so you can get immediate help and then allows you to pay through monthly amounts afterward.

How Does Medicard Work?

Medicard can pre-approve an approximate amount. This allows you the flexibility to choose your treatment duration with the comfort of knowing that financing has been confirmed.

  • No down payment
  • No collateral
  • High approval
  • Competitive interest rates
  • No early payment penalty

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Simply submit your application online or call Medicard directly at 1‑888‑689‑9876. You decide how much you would like to finance (the entire amount of treatment or just a portion), and what repayment terms fit your needs (from 6 months to 6 years).

Step 2

Medicard will notify you of the credit decision by phone. From there you need to sign and return the required documents along with a void cheque to Medicard.

Step 3

Medicard sends payment automatically to the Canadian Centre for Addictions so that you can secure your bed and begin treatment immediately.  Your monthly payment is electronically debited from your chequing account.
