How Is Success in Rehab Defined?

Let’s start with an important fact: not all successful drug rehabs are the same. Success isn’t measured by how quickly someone gets clean, how long they stay in rehab, or how much money they spend on their treatment.  Success is the culmination of many different factors. You’ll hear about some of these in this article. Success isn’t a black and white subject, it’s a grey area with many different outcomes. Some of these vary from person to person, and some depend on the type of rehab. There is no hard-and-fast rule for how long someone will be in rehab, how long it will take them to get clean, or how much they’ll spend.

Drug Rehab Success Rates in Canada

The best way to find out about drug rehab success rates in Canada is to look at actual numbers. There are many ways to do this, but for starters, you can look at the numbers for people in treatment for all types of drugs or just alcohol.  A study of the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) giving details about what life in recovery looks like showed that 51.2% of people achieved stable recovery without experiencing a single relapse. Addiction is only the symptom. Identifying and understanding the underlying core issues that lead to the addiction is where a person will find authentic recovery. At CCFA, our health professionals help people understand how their thoughts, emotions, and feelings influence their behaviour. To measure the success rate, we do an individual’s psychological report at the beginning of the treatment composed of a biopsychosocial assessment, a psychometric interview, and a clinical assessment of depression. This clinical assessment of depression is also administered at the end of the treatment, allowing for a comparative statistical analysis measuring the changes in psychological functions.  Recent results have shown that of 122 people who entered the program, 74.6% presented underlying mental health issues. Out of the 74.6%, 99% showed improvement after completing the CCFA program: a statistically significant improvement in mood and mental health, a more positive and optimistic vision for the future, as well as heightened interest in pursuing goals that are meaningful and worthwhile.

Is There an Effective Way to Measure Rehab Success Rates?

As we’ve seen, success rates can vary depending on the type of treatment and the person receiving it. Success rates can also be measured in different ways.  One example of this is measuring retention rates. This is the percentage of people who complete their addiction treatment program. Retention rates are a good way to measure success rates in rehab because they show how long people actually stay in treatment. The longer someone stays in treatment, the more likely they are to recover. But retention rates aren’t the be-all and end-all when it comes to measuring success rates.

How to Find a Good Drug and Alcohol Rehab for You or Your Loved One

There are many factors that go into choosing an addiction rehab facility The best way to do this is to look at several different types of rehabs. Once you get a list together, you need to start analyzing each one. You can do this by reading reviews, talking to someone who has been to the rehab, or reading their published statistics, just like we’ve discussed in this article. You’re trying to find a place that is effective, and retention rates are a good way to measure this. You’re also trying to find a place that suits your needs. This includes things like the price, availability of beds, the location, and the program.
