Recovery doesn't end when cravings stop. It gets tested the moment you walk back into your regular life and face the people, places, and pressures that fed your addiction in the first place. That's where most relapses happen. Not from a sudden loss of willpower, but from running into a trigger you didn't see coming and having no rehearsed response ready. Our relapse prevention program at the Canadian Centre for Addictions was built to close that gap.

We don't treat relapse prevention in substance abuse as a separate workshop bolted onto the end of your stay. At CCFA, it runs through every week of residential treatment, woven into individual therapy, group sessions, and psychoeducation from day one. Your certified addiction counsellor and registered psychotherapist work with you to map your personal triggers, identify the emotional and behavioural patterns that precede substance use, and build a concrete plan for responding to each one.
