If You Don’t Quit Abusing Alcohol Now, You’ll Hate Yourself Later

If you find yourself caught up in the vicious circle of alcohol abuse, it can be difficult to see a way out of the darkness. Denial is one of the biggest barriers stopping many alcoholics from seeking help, but if you continue down the road you’re currently on, you will have everything to lose; your health, your family, your job, your money and maybe even your home.

Your health

Firstly, let’s focus on your health, which should really be your greatest concern. Alcohol abuse has numerous health risks, as well as various unwelcome effects on the body that you’ve probably stopped noticing. Your brain will seem foggy, and it becomes very difficult to think clearly. Chronic drinking also puts your liver at very serious risk, and this can have an effect on your skin and vision. Alcohol also has a way of magnifying aches and pains in your body, as you are robbed of necessary nutrients you need in order to be healthy.Serious health risks of alcohol abuse include cancer, anemia, cardiovascular disease, cirrhosis/liver failure, depression, dementia, high blood pressure, gout, seizures, nerve damage, increased susceptibility to infectious disease, and pancreatitis. Many of these more serious health risks can kill you, or can combine with the symptoms above to be wholly unpleasant. Allow us to place you back on solid ground.

Your family

If you carry on drinking, hiding bottles from your loved ones, lying and generally being an embarrassment in social situations, your family will eventually lose all respect for you. No matter how well you think you can hide your addiction, your family will see right through you, and no matter how far their love reaches, they will only stay for so long before you are at risk of losing them for good. It is not fair to put the people you love through hell, out of fear for your life, and your welfare.

Your money

You’ll spend most of it on drink, and soon you’ll feel disgusted by yourself. You’ll have no money to pay for the essentials, and you’ll have to start borrowing from friends and the people you love. If you get completely out of control, you may even struggle to pay the rent or mortgage, and you will lose your home and end up homeless.

Your job

If you still have a job, you might not keep it for long. No one likes to have drunk employees who turn up late, cannot properly perform, and reek of alcohol to customers or fellow colleagues. Someone will eventually notice, and you will be reported, cautioned, suspended or fired. Then you’ll really be in trouble, and who knows where you may end up; possibly on the street.

Conclusion

If you want to hold onto your family’s respect, your health, your job and your money, you need to quit drinking right now.
