This includes being upfront about not being able to attend events where drinking is involved, or asking people to stop drinking around you for a while. If you’re quitting alcohol altogether, you’re going to experience some withdrawal symptoms that can be unpleasant. These include:
  • Headaches
  • Elevated body temperature/sweating
  • Shakes
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Anxiety and trouble sleeping
  • Stomach cramps and diarrhea
  • Elevated blood pressure and heart rate
You should call 911 or take a trip to the ER if you experience:
  • Confusion and disorientation
  • Severe vomiting
  • Bad fever
  • Seizures or convulsions
  • Hallucinations
The good news is, these symptoms are only temporary, and within around five days you should be withdrawal-free.

Once the hard part is over, you can begin to take steps that will help you build a better life without alcohol.
